Seafood's place as a super food reaffirmed!
A report released this week reaffirms seafood’s place as a superior and essential food in our diet. The report, by dietician Amanda Johnson, includes a comprehensive review of the scientific literature relevant to seafood and health and explains why and how including seafood in our diets can assist at all stages of our lives. The research suggests a link between eating seafood and brain development in children. In adults eating seafood regularly helps to reduce the risk of cardio vascular disease, particularly sudden cardiac death.
The dieticians suggest that there is strong evidence that eating at least two fish meals a week along with other dietary modifications and lifestyle changes such as the stopping of smoking will protect against heart disease. Amanda Johnson comments that fish provides an excellent package of nutrients, including protein, omega-3, fatty acids common, B vitamins, iron, zinc, selenium and iodine. To read the report here.

Oceanz Seafood Scoop Best Chip Shop Award
Oceanz Seafood Silverdale store have taken out New Zealand’s best Chip Shop award for 2009. Following a combination of public text voting, mystery judging and chip fat analysis Oceanz won the award from over 400 fish & chip outlets in New Zealand.
Store Manager Paul Francis said that it was great to win the national award after Oceanz stores had won regional awards for the last 4 years and been named Auckland’s best fish and chip shop by the Metro Magazine in 2008. Paul said the secret to their success was ensuring the oil was always in premium condition. “We always use fresh fish, much of which comes from our own boat, and this helps ensure the oil stays in great condition. We also filter the oil daily and ensure that it is kept at a consistent temperature”
Oceanz has six fish & chip outlets in the Auckland region all of which follow the same successful formula.
